  • While there aren’t many things to miss about your 20s, it would be nice to have that glowing, youthful skin and hair back! Sadly, our bodies’ natural ability to replenish collagen decreases by 1.5% per year from our 20s onwards.  This results in a loss of skin elasticity and ultimately leads to the emergence of fine lines and wrinkles. Want to learn more? Check out our science page!

Thankfully Sproos is here to help! Our Beauty Collagen is a synergistic combination of 6 active ingredients (wild-caught marine collagen, organic acerola (Vitamin C) hyaluronic acid, zinc, silica and biotin) designed to work meaningfully from within to improve the appearance of dull, aging skin and hair. The result? A powerful formula that delivers a unique blend of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and regenerative effects.

We keep it simple: take one scoop or sachet daily with water, and wait for the glow!

  • Recommended purpose: helps to maintain healthy skin, hair and nails. Helps in connective tissue formation and provides a source of antioxidants.

Using Sproos: Add one scoop or sachet per day to 12-16 oz of cold water and shake or stir well until fully dissolved or add to your favourite smoothie.

Caution: do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have liver or kidney disease or if you have been instructed to follow a low protein diet, consult a health care practitioner prior to use. For the use of Zinc picolinate beyond 3 months, consult a health care practitioner. Collagen may cause mild gastrointestinal disturbances.

What’s Inside

  • Hydrolyzed Collagen (from North Atlantic wild-caught fish skin)

Our premium wild-caught marine collagen is sourced from North Atlantic fish and processed locally in Canada. It is tested to meet the world's most stringent standards for heavy metals and toxins.

Marine collagen comes from the parts of the fish (scales and skin) that would usually be discarded during processing. Marine collagen is a source of type I collagen. Type I is the most plentiful collagen in our bodies. It can be found in our skin, tendons, bones, teeth, ligaments and connective tissues. Collagen is often associated with skin health and rightly so! Type I collagen is the main component of our skin and is a key building block for maintaining its elasticity and firmness. That’s why marine collagen has long been touted in the cosmetic industry for its skin enhancing benefits. Marine collagen is slightly more expensive than other types of collagen, but it has the greatest bioavailability. Gram for gram, marine collagen will deliver the greatest impact.

  • Organic Acerola Powder (Vitamin C)

Organic Acerola is one of nature’s richest natural sources of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is required in order for the body to form collagen and works in tandem to contribute to the maintenance of optimal collagen density in the skin. Vitamin C is also a potent antioxidant and has been shown to regenerate other antioxidants within the body, and may actually limit the damaging effects of free radicals. When the science speaks, we listen. That’s why our Skin and Hair blend contains Vitamin C, as a contributor to the maintenance of optimal collagenic density in the skin.

  • Hyaluronic Acid (from fermentation)

Hyaluronic acid is found in our bones, the synovial fluid of joints, and tendons throughout the body, and is also a bit of a rockstar when it comes to hydration and lubrication. For joints, it is notably present in a type of cartilage called hyaline cartilage, which covers the ends of bones, thereby supporting the hydration, lubrication, and cushioning of joints. With age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in the body is depleted, which results in degenerative joint changes, reduced joint elasticity and also lowers our body’s ability to deal with the effects of physical stress.

One of the most remarkable features of hyaluronic acid is its ability to retain moisture, which is key for so many of the body’s functions. About half of all of the hyaluronic acid in our body is found in our skin. With a dramatic decrease in hyaluronic acid, our skin’s ability to hold onto moisture is also dramatically reduced. This leads to a wide range of negative effects in the appearance of our skin. Happily, taking hyaluronic acid has been shown to improve the moisture balance in our skin.

  • Zinc Picolinate

Zinc is a mineral that supports the maintenance and development of immune cells. Zinc has been shown to modulate the immune response, meaning that it is it critical for a controlled and well-adapted immune system. Zinc is also an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. While acute zinc deficiency has been shown to decrease the immune response, chronic zinc deficiency increases the risk of inflammation. When it comes to zinc supplementation, form matters: we use zinc picolinate because it is better absorbed than other forms, such as zinc gluconate and zinc citrate.

  • Silica (from Horsetail herb [Equisetum arvense])

The incorporation of silica within certain plant cell walls has been well documented. However, this ability varies greatly between plant species. Extensive analysis of silica uptake has been carried out and plants of the families Equisetaceae, for example, show high silica accumulation. Horsetail Extract is a valuable source of silica. Silica is a critical mineral for optimal collagen health and synthesis, which positively impacts skin strength and elasticity. Silica may also be associated with a lower rate of hair loss and increased brightness, and may be involved in structural integrity of nails.

  • Biotin

Biotin is a water-soluble B vitamin involved in the metabolism of protein, carbohydrates and fats. More specifically, biotin is necessary for the formation of fatty acids and glucose (which are used as fuels by the body). It is also necessary for the metabolism of amino acids and carbohydrates, and is a key regulator of gene expression. Biotin cannot be synthesized by the body and must be obtained from the diet or through supplementation. Symptoms of biotin deficiency can include hair loss, inflammation of the skin, and skin rash. Studies have shown that women with brittle fingernails who supplemented with biotin experienced less fingernail splitting and an increase in thickness of their nail plates.

  • Organic Green Tea (Camellia sinensis)

Camellia sinensis is a plant that produces green, black, or Oolong tea. The consumption of green tea has been associated with a range of benefits, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Many of the health-promoting effects of green tea have been mainly attributed to its polyphenol content, most of which are flavonols, also known as catechins; epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) is the most abundant catechin in green tea. It also tastes delicious and contributes to the subtle flavoring of our Skin & Hair blend.

  • Organic Coconut Water

Tropical regions have always known about the amazing health benefits of tender coconut water, which comes from young green coconuts. Each nut contains about 200 mL to 1 L of coconut water. Coconut water is packed with antioxidants, amino acids, enzymes, B-complex vitamins, vitamin C and minerals like iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, manganese and zinc.

  • Organic Stevia

Stevia is an intensely sweet natural sweetener that is harvested from the stevia rebaudiana plant. Research indicates that stevia sweeteners do not contribute calories or carbohydrates to the diet and do not affect blood glucose or insulin response. Organic stevia is a component of our sugar-free sweetener blend, alongside organic erythritol and monk fruit, and makes a good alternative to sweeteners that can spike blood sugar.

  • Monk Fruit

Monk fruit contains compounds which, when extracted, are 300 times the sweetness of cane sugar but with no calories and no effect on blood sugar. This fruit has been used as a sweetener for centuries across Asia. Thanks to its high antioxidant levels, it has also been used medicinally. Monk is a component of our sugar-free sweetener blend, alongside organic erythritol and organic stevia.

  • Organic Erythritol

Erythritol is a sugar substitute that looks and tastes like sugar, but has almost no calories. Erythritol is described as having a zero glycemic index, and it has not been found to affect blood sugar or insulin levels. Organic erythritol is made by breaking down the starch from organic (non-GMO) corn to make glucose. Glucose is then fermented with yeast or another fungus to produce organic erythritol. Erythritol is almost fully absorbed in the small intestine, so does not typically cause the laxative effects that some individuals experience with other sugar alcohols, like xylitol and maltitol. Organic Erythritol is a component of our sugar-free sweetener blend, alongside organic stevia and monk fruit, and makes a tasty alternative to sweeteners that can spike blood sugar.

  • Sea Salt

Pure sea salt retains all essential natural elements from the sea. Sea salt can contain magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron, zinc and iodine. Each of these elements is essential for good human health.

  • Natural Lemon, Lime and Orange Flavours

We believe that functional products should also taste great! The delicious but subtle flavoring of our products is provided by the use of natural flavors from plant-based natural sources. Rest assured, there is no hidden MSG or unmentionable parts of beavers in our natural flavors!

  • Citric Acid

Citric acid is a natural substance found in fruit and vegetables – especially citrus fruits like lemons and limes. In dietary supplements, citric acid may be used to enhance flavour, specifically an acidic or sour taste. Citric acid also may act as a natural preservative.

My new afternoon delight!

I love having this as my afternoon drink, when I start craving a snack, but really it’s because I need to drink more water. The powder mixes well with water. My skin and hair feel and look great! I’ve always loved their collagen, this one is just a good little fun drink on its own, which is great! The taste is very light which is always good :)

Fantastic Product

I choose Sproos for their commitment to education and the environment. I appreciate this product is formulated with other beauty enhancers, the taste is not over powering or too sweet. I have enjoyed my first round of Sproos and plan to purchase again.

Great product!

I have used the Sproos skin and hair collagen powder for several months now and I think it works great. I've definitely noticed a difference, especially in my hair quality. The only reason I didn't give it 5 out of 5 is because it is a bit pricey for a container which lasts slightly less then a month. Otherwise great product!
