Products

We use cod in our Marine Collagen. All from MSC regulated fisheries.

All of our products undergo rigorous testing for heavy metals and contaminants. We’re pleased to say our marine collagen meets the most stringent worldwide standards for heavy metals and is well below the Canadian permitted level.

No, it really is almost flavourless, and we are told often that our collagen is the most tasteless marine collagen our customers have tried. We recommend taking your pure collagen in coffee, tea or a smoothie which will mask any perceptible taste.

Yes! Our North American pasture-raised, grass-fed collagen is also grass-finished. There are no added hormones, antibiotics or pesticides either.

There are numerous types of collagen in the body, but over 90% of it consists of types I III. Type I is by far the most dominant. You will also hear mention of type II collagen. Type II collagen is found in cartilage, so is a valuable contributor to joint health. Learn more about the types of collagen here.

‘Mild gastrointestinal disturbance’ can be a possible side effect with collagen consumption as per Health Canada. Although we rarely hear this as feedback, sensitivity varies from person to person.

Sproos Grass-Fed Collagen, Marine Collagen and Performance Multi-Collagen are pure sources of collagen. They are a great way to receive the all-round benefits of collagen. They are flavourless, dissolve easily and can be added to your favourite hot or cold beverage, or even to certain foods (e.g. soups, oatmeal or baking).

Our collagen blends build on our core collagen ingredient and enhance it with other active ingredients, all of which are focused on benefitting the target area (skin and hair, gut or joints) of that product.

All of our products are manufactured in Canada at highly respected and Health Canada approved facilities. Our manufacturers hold numerous Natural Health Product industry certifications, including certification as a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacturer and/or SQF certifications.

Health Canada advises taking 5-10g of collagen per day to receive the benefits.

Please see the caution wording on each individual Sproos product which reflects Health Canada recommendations. In addition, we always recommend talking with your doctor first before taking any supplement as nutritional needs can vary during pregnancy and when breastfeeding.

We also have a blog post here that has some great information.

Yes, our BPA-free HDPE tubs can be put into your blue recycling box.

Our pure collagen powders are unflavoured and easily dissolve into anything. A scoop can simply be mixed into any hot or cold beverage (think: smoothies, coffee, lattes). But collagen can also be used in baking, oatmeal, energy bites and more!
